Welcome to the Paul Laurence Dunbar Expressive Writing Blog! A collaborated effort from the creative young writers of the Dunbar Y Family Center. I am your host, Mara Hunter, journalist for Total Eclipse Magazine, contributor for Lioness Magazine and the creator of the Soul in the City blog spot.
Please browse our page, foward this link on facebook and feel free to leave a comment for our writers.
Our writing sessions take place every Saturday from 12noon to 2p at the Dunbar Y, located at 33 Oak Street in Springfield, MA. All teens ages 13-18 are welcome to join us!
This past Saturday, March 10th was the 2nd week of the Readers & Writer's Rock workshop. We talked about being able to effectively express ourselves through our writing, the obstacles we face and how to overcome them. The teens discussed many ideas for creating a storyline and we will be working on writing a script. Author Keshawn Dodds will be joining us next week to discuss his book and upcoming play, Who's on My Side: The Story of Kalen Brown.
Stay tuned as our writers will be sharing their experiences from each week. Comical, serious and authentic young writers looking to take the next steps and go to another level with their writing.
You didn't fall on this page by accident, but truly it was for a reason. Support the creative movement!!!
Peace,
Mara Hunter
